I noticed you can't reload while on the back of a raider ride but you can aerial reload when you jump off the ride. They will track and chase monsters for you while you do most of the things you do after a monster runs. You can summon a ride if out of combat with an new item. If you've befriended an area's Grimalkyne Tribe you should be able to ride their small monster(ie basic jagras in ancient forest.) The ride is awesome.
